HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Okay so I kind of suck at making sure I post things lately. Then again life has been a total drag lately. And I really mean that. 2012 sucked hardcore. 2013 should (hopefully) be much better.

I’m already starting the year off right. I’d been told back at the beginning of December that I couldn’t have caffeine or drink or smoke. Most of that wasn’t a problem but I’m a caffeine junkie. Not having caffeine was ridiculous. It also turned me into a creature that hid in a corner and tried to bite people. Which is highly frowned upon in customer service, let me tell you.

On top of everything, I did (and won) National Novel Writing Month! November was crazy. I started on writing the 17th version of Dean's story only to realize that it wasn't the story that needed to be told. I kept trying to make the world happy and perfect but that's not the way that world works. There is nothing happy about that world.

Here's a confession - I used to write fan fiction. A lot of it. One story was very popular and based off the Marvel Comics Civil War arc. I decided that a lot of what made that story so popular was the way it hit so close, how insanely plausible everything I came up with was. So I decided to go the same way with Dean's story...for the 18th time. The thing is, it's working. I'm having to do a lot more research in an entirely different track than I had been focusing on before but it's wonderful. I'm a bit of a research nut so I love it. Unfortunately I work upwards of 40 hours (I just ended a 60 hour week) so it's close to an impossible task to do as much research as I might like (unless I do it at work and then I will get many a weird look for reading about Hitler and Mengele).

Yes, the comment about Mengele was on purpose. Remember Meechum? Yeah, well. Turns out I wrote a Nazi without really thinking about it (or knowing that much about Mengele before hand).

Anyway. This is all really just a rambly post to say HAPPY 2013!!! I have decided to be a lot more candid about Dean and talk about the creation of the 18th version as much as I can. Everything I posted before kind of no longer applies (except that which does) so I'm going to start reposting things. I'm leaving the other stuff up, though, kind of as a comparison between the two versions because, well. Because I want to and I find it fascinating. :)

Hope you're all with me for the ride. I promise not to vanish off again, at least not without a good reason, and even then. 2013 is the year a lot of things are going to get done in a lot of different areas of my life. I'm making this a priority, no matter how much work abuses me.
